Salem United Church of Christ offers Sunday School to children from grades 4K to Grade 6. We gather on Sunday mornings from 9:00 to 9:45 a.m. led by a small teaching team.
We offer a small group environment with all ages learning together. Our lessons follow the standard Revised Common Lectionary and class time consists of sharing our scripture lesson followed by group discussion and activities that further explain the lesson and how it can be applied to our everyday lives.
While we provide opportunity for the children to read and learn to navigate the Bible, we encourage interaction and focus on community among the children and teachers. We strive for our children to understand the practical application of God’s teachings in order for them to be a reflection of Christ within church and in the wider world.
Our group also participates in Children’s Sabbath, Youth Sunday, and holiday programs. These experiences allow our church family, children, older youth, and adults to participate and grow together, building relationships with each other wider congregation.
Adults are welcome to join our class as visitors and are also encouraged to consider becoming teachers.
