Greetings from the Consistory President

May 2017

Recently entrusted to serve as Salem’s Consistory President, it is with a sense of honor and a grateful heart that I greet you.  Many thanks are extended to staff, members and visitors who in countless ways contribute to the life of our church, here at Salem.  Over the past several months, references have been made to a “Shift: From Maintenance to Mission” and to “Step up in your Faith Journey.”  As these initiatives have begun to unfold, many have accepted the challenges and opportunities presented.  The newest initiative, “Five Practices of Fruitful Congregations” is designed to further guide us as a congregation as we seek to strengthen our faith and further our mission as followers of Christ.  It is my hope that each of us will continue to listen and watch for upcoming invitations to participate in these initiatives and give prayerful consideration as to the ways in which we may be called to respond.  Let us join together in support of one another as we continue forward in discovering what God is calling this church to do and how each of us can be a part of it.  I welcome questions, concerns and/or praises that you wish to share with me regarding these initiatives or other matters of our church.  I look forward to serving as your Consistory President.  May God’s Peace and Blessings be with you!  Mary Bender
